Part 2 | Island Child

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
INTRODUCTION
Hello! Welcome to/ welcome back to my Sims 3 Midnight Sun Challenge blog. I will be playing through 1 sim week (no holidays or university this time around) like last time. Lyle will probably age up at some point this week and I'll also have the sims work on their skills as usual. Without further ado, let's begin!
WEEK 2, DAY 1
Today I'll get Bao to build a relationship with his newborn son, Lyle. That means that Theresa can do some scuba diving and fishing. This will be a nice break for her.
So frame-worthy.
Since Lyle is okay on his own for now, I'm having Bao work on his sketching.
Also, Theresa managed to get to level 2 in cooking at some point.
Theresa is going to the Midnight Trench diving spot for today.
There's a mermaid that we're not allowed to interact with!
Theresa creepin' on this mermaid.
So I had Theresa explore a cave and then she just got teleported here, along with the mermaid.
I guess we'll just stick to boring snorkelling then. She's getting some collectables at least.
Bao pees himself again...
Finally Bao decides he wants to look at his child.
Creeper paparazzi.
Don't know what this is supposed to be. Artistic expression or something?
Totally frame-worthy though.
Theresa is already tired so I'll send her back to shore to sleep.
Couldn't forget about these guys.
I was able to get Bao and Lyle to kind of a 'half friend' relationship status which is alright I suppose. Theresa didn't really get anywhere with her diving, but she found a few items which I sold.
Aaand the kid starts crying.
That's about all for today. Everyone went to sleep eventually. It was kind of an uneventful day, but Lyle's birthday is coming up which will be something fun. By the way, sorry for the worse quality of screenshots today. I don't know why, but some of them turned out completely terrible. I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to taking screenshots in The Sims 3, so if you have any tips then please help me out lol.
WEEK 2, DAY 2
Today it's Theresa's turn to take care of Lyle. Bao has been doing a lot of artwork lately so I'll have him go back to fishing for today. Also, apparently Lyle is ageing up in 3 days which I thought was weird since I swear he was born days ago, but oh well...
He's crying again.
And again.
She's just working on their relationship while Bao is sleeping.
Bao's up for some fishing.
Bills on a deserted island...
Lyle is pretty tired so we'll have him get some rest and Theresa do some snorkelling.
Freaking paparazzi lady again.
An intimate moment in some dead bushes between a raccoon and stray cat.
The baby is crying again. Oh well, I guess I signed up for this after all.
It's creepy laptop girl! Welcome back! I didn't know you had a boat...
Well, creepy laptop girl has many talents. Playing on her laptop, finding deserted islands, operating boats and also singing!
Okay, this glitch is getting out of hand.
Get it girl.
It seems that stray cat has finally met the paparazzi.
And someone is a little jealous.
Theresa was tired after her snorkelling so I sent her to sleep. She got to level 5 in scuba diving.
She's still going at it...
Does this baby ever stop crying?
Bambi is finally back! The whole group is here!
This girl just has no chill.
After Bao's full day of fishing, he got to level 7 and caught a nice amount of fish.
This child, I swear...
Also, pretty much everyone disappeared besides raccoon and stray cat.
That's all for today then. So, in conclusion we upped a few skills today and had some drama with the island visitors. Lyle now has 2 days until he ages up. I would say that it was an okay day.
WEEK 2, DAY 3
My plans for today include giving Bao a much needed makeover, since we haven't changed his outfits or hair or anything yet. He can also take care of Lyle today. Theresa can continue with her snorkelling since I would like to work her towards completing her lifetime wish. The house also needs some lighting since so far I've just been relying on windows which really aren't helpful at night.
Lighting added.
Eating waffles at 4 am.
Well, the deer is back!
I don't think these guys ever went away though, and they probably never will.
Of course she has to get on a boat to travel a few metres from shore.
Yup, totally necessary.
She's just going to do that for the rest of the day and hopefully find some good collectables. So far she's just been finding cheap shells and other random crap.
Huh, I didn't know this child was capable of not crying for more than five seconds.
Well, nevermind.
Bao to the rescue.
I gave him a makeover. It's kind of just a bunch of beachy outfits or ones he won't use anyway. I won't go through them all since they aren't anything amazing and you'll be seeing them throughout the blog anyway. Here's his everyday outfit though.
Stray cat leaping into the dead bushes.
Time for their some play-fighting.
There she goes, getting herself buried in the sand again.
Bao's started a new painting.
And guess what? Lyle's having another tantrum. Quick side note: I added in some carpet in the bedroom and nursery. I also gave them a dresser and mirror.
I can't take any more of this getting stuck in the sand. Back to the houseboat you go, Theresa.
These two continue with their weird little relationship that they've formed.
Only Theresa would swim through a freaking bridge. Only Theresa. Also, hello deer lurking in the shadows. You have decided to return it seems.
Okay Theresa, this is getting a bit ridiculous now.
Wow, back with the not sitting at the table thing again.
Bao managed to finish a new painting. It's actually pretty nice.
But he also managed to clog the toilet.
Anyway, off to bed for Theresa and Bao.
And please no more crying from this baby.
Yay!
That just about wraps up today. The things that we got done today were a makeover for Bao, a painting made by Bao, some snorkelling and selling a few collectables from Theresa including some expensive gnome. Tomorrow Lyle is ageing up which I'm pretty excited for, since hopefully now he will be a little less high maintenance.
WEEK 2, DAY 4
Today Lyle is ageing up! We'll finally get to see a bit more of what he looks like and we also hopefully won't have to deal with as much crying. I'll buy some more toddler stuff for him. Other than Lyle ageing up, I'll get Theresa and Bao to do some fishing like they used to. On to the day!
Don't you love the sound of being woken up at 4 am by a screaming baby? I'm sure my sims love it.
He sure looks happy about it!
Theresa generously let Bao take care of the screaming child while she takes a peaceful fishing trip.
He is simply delighted to do so.
Bao wasn't too happy about his breakfast.
It's finally time for Lyle to age up! I don't know why but it seems like it's been forever to me that Lyle's been a baby.
Well here he is. I'll change his outfits in a moment.
Theresa is even feeling generous enough today to eat her son's birthday cake for him while he cries on the floor!
Yeah, Bao definitely wasn't too happy about that breakfast...
Some cake will make up for that though.
Just paying the bills for this deserted island.
Eating that cake and going on that relaxing fishing trip was just so tiring for Theresa.
Having second thoughts about getting that toddler stuff. We don't really have room for it, so we'll just have to teach him how to walk and talk without all that stuff.
Nevermind about him being less high maintenance.
Bao's just going to do some fishing with Theresa while Lyle is eating.
Well that didn't last long.
Bao is just going to keep teaching Lyle how to walk while Theresa fishes.
Well apparently Bao is too tired to do it so Theresa can then.
Or not.
I guess that Theresa will just have to take on the burden of eating more cake then.
Theresa can do some more fishing now.
That pretty much puts an end to today. I'm glad that Lyle is a toddler now, because now we can actually teach him stuff instead of just looking at him in a crib all day long. We got some fishing done too, so that's a little bit of progress at least.
WEEK 2, DAY 5
It's Spooky Day! Today our main objective is going to be teaching Lyle to walk and possibly to talk. Other than that we might have Theresa or Bao do some more fishing.
Theresa's still fishing...
Okay, if that isn't creepy then I don't know what is.
The deer is back and doesn't approve of this creepy mime either.
These two aren't really doing much that's very interesting lately.
I added a third floor to the house and a balcony type of thing to make the house look a bit more interesting, although it's still a very basic house.
I'll furnish the inside of it later maybe, but for now they have a tea set which might be a good way for my sims to relax.
Making some progress with the walking.
Time for a quick cake break.
Going to bed at 9:00 am... This woman's sleep schedule is completely messed up.
Lyle learned to walk!
Now to teach him to talk.
Lyle's run off to go play with his toys instead.
That's better.
Please never make that face again Theresa.
More bills.
Also, who the heck is calling Theresa? She literally doesn't know anyone who isn't on the island.
Lyle learned to talk too! We've actually made some nice progress today.
These two are both tired so they're going upstairs to sleep.
As for Theresa, she's going to finish up her fishing for now and test out her new tea set.
She seems to like it.
I also got them a coffee machine so that Theresa can stay up all night and all day. I want to get her sleeping schedule back on track so this is one slightly torturous way to do it I guess.
That's all for today. The main thing that we got done was just teaching Lyle some stuff, and that's good enough progress for me. Tomorrow we'll see how my plans for Theresa will go.
WEEK 2, DAY 6
Today is Friday and I'm a little unsure of how things will go. Theresa has stayed up for the night so far but the issue will be keeping her awake for all of today. I'm also going to attempt to potty train Lyle, so let's see how all that goes.
Theresa's just cleaning some stuff.
Nothing much has changed around this part of the island.
These are all for Theresa...
Potty training has started.
All done. Those all went a little too quickly.
Lyle is officially potty trained!
And somehow he managed to leave messes all across the room.
Bao and Lyle are going to have some breakfast now. I should probably stop feeding Bao and Theresa cake so much actually... Maybe one of them should actually learn to cook some decent meals. The problem is that we don't exactly have any bookstores on this deserted island, so finding recipes might be a bit of a struggle.
Oh, look who's decided to show up. I just saw her speeding on over here on yet another boat.
Lyle is just going to play with his peg box while his father is cleaning up his messes downstairs.
A new paparazzi! We're going to call you rainbow umbrella boy.
It never stops freaking raining on this island.
Things are looking a lot better downstairs.
Bao's been helping out with Lyle a lot lately, so I think he deserves a little break. Also, don't question the fact that they were able to buy a TV on this island. Don't question how a lot of things happened on this island actually...
Hello you two lovebirds...cats...raccoons.
He can work on his sketching now.
Hmm... Rainbow umbrella boy doesn't really do much, does he?
Okay, just one more slice and then we'll cook normal meals... I think?
And all of a sudden our island is encased in a weird blue box!
Theresa is starting to feel the effects of staying up all night and all day.
He drew... A frog chair? Okay...
This should help Theresa out.
Time for Lyle to go to bed.
Bao's just heading to sleep while Theresa makes some actual food for once.
Okay, this guy really needs to get a life. He's been standing here all day, and I doubt he'll be going away anytime soon.
I had Theresa make some goopy carbonara. That's real-meal-ish enough, right? Anyway, I'll get Theresa to go to bed soon. Her sleeping schedule is a little better now I guess.
Until then though, why not have some tea?
That's enough for today. Bao potty trained Lyle and got Theresa into a better sleep schedule. Bao also sketched a frog chair, probably the greatest achievement of his life so far. Seriously though, I don't understand why he keeps making all of this weird artwork. Well, see you tomorrow then!
WEEK 2, DAY 7
It's the last day of the week, which means the last day of this blog post. I'll have Bao do some more sketching (hopefully no more pink blobs and frog chairs), Theresa do some diving and Lyle play with his peg box some more. I guess we'll also see if any more uninvited visitors come to the island. We have our regulars like the raccoon and stray cat, and a few that come every now and then, like the paparazzi, the multi-talented laptop girl and the deer, and lastly rainbow umbrella boy. Anyway, on with the day.
No, you're not getting into our house rainbow umbrella boy. Get over it.
You know what, rainbow umbrella boy? I'm getting tired of you. Time to take some action.
Good, now stay in your cage like a good little rainbow umbrella boy.
There we go.
Oh... Is that how it's going to be, rainbow umbrella boy? You're just going to teleport on out of there as soon as you feel like it? Well let me tell you, little umbrella boy. If you ever come back to this island, you're going to wish you were never born.
Finally someone is up. Bao's just taking care of Lyle for a moment before he goes to do some sketching.
Lyle's doing well with his peg box.
Bao is now level 5 in painting.
Theresa's up at 12:00 pm. I guess that's not too bad.
She's heading out for some diving now.
Lyle is now at peg box level 3! That means he can focus on his xylophone now.
Theresa's finding a bunch of gems and shells.
Bao's latest sketch. Right now I'm just putting all his artwork up around the house for some decoration but when he starts getting really good at it I'll start selling his work.
Someone managed to clog the toilet again. I might have to upgrade this bathroom a bit. He grasped the basics of handiness from doing that though.
About time we started a new painting. I'm thinking at some point we could get Bao to make some portraits of each member of the family.
I thought that we were done with this glitch but apparently not.
Ahhh, not this again too!
Oh boy.
Reset sim cheat to the rescue! Theresa's feeling tired now so I'll get her to go sleep. Good to see that she's back on track with her sleeping patterns again. I don't know why, but I just don't like seeing my sims waking up at night every day unless they're vampires. She can also put Lyle to bed while she's at it.
I'll have Bao finish off this painting, get himself some food and hit the sack now.
That just about finishes off today then, and this entire sim week. I know it wasn't a super eventful week, but Lyle's getting older and learning new things which is nice. I'll try to make next week a bit more exciting.
CONCLUSION
Hey! Hope you all enjoyed and thanks for reading if you got this far. Sorry if this wasn't as long as my last post (my sim went on holiday last week which probably made it longer) or if I made any mistakes. Not too much happened this week besides some skill building, Lyle ageing up and a new visitor coming to the island (god-damned rainbow umbrella boy, we'll let him have it next time!). I hope it was still fun to read though. Like before, I'll get the next one of these out in a few days. I'll try to stick to this 'schedule'. See you later!
